What can one say about Barry Wingard’s obvious gifts and skills? First, as an architectural designer and artisan of traditional frescos he is quite literally, a Renaissance man. Barry’s design and interior architecture inspires the soul and the eye and takes us back to a grand destination. Wingard’s virtuosity in this field is unmatched. He is to fresco what Dale Chihuly was to Venetian glass, a true master of both creation and execution.

Secondly, Barry Wingard is an enigmatic fine artist whose volume of collections are only matched by his variety in subject and style. All of his canvass works impart a superrealism of detail no matter the subject. Many times, this attribute can be too photographic in appearance and lack humanity. But not in this case. Barry layers imagery, light and subject that always elicits an emotional feeling or sense and becomes captivating. This is evident in some of his portrait work that actually captures the emotions and qualities of the subjects. I have a lifelong love of the architectural design and fine arts. Throughout the years, my wife and I have grown acquainted with Barry through his gallery and visits to his home. In total, we have acquired five of his remarkable paintings, including two striking portraits of the President and First Lady, as well as three captivating pieces from his renowned “Life of Christ” collection. It takes an enormous amount of perception, talent and skill to capture a face on canvas, man or beast. Not to diminish the skill it takes to paint the rest of the body, but the face holds its particular challenges. Barry Wingard is a master of painting the face. The life and depth he captures with the brush is beyond amazing; it’s is mesmerizing.

My wife and I also own a Barry Wingard landscape. Again, it is hard to fathom how he, as an artist, can capture the light needed to make a landscape come alive. This painting never ceases to amaze our guests when they see it. Barry’s ability to use color and light to its fullest and in its most subtle forms Is a signature of its own.

We currently have three pieces and hope to add to our collection soon. Barry’s artwork is always a welcome addition to our home.
